Sunset Beach Gun - 7'6" - Polyurethane Foam - Glass on Tri Fin

This is a 7'6" Sunset Beach gun I made for Grant Stapelberg. It features roving rails, which were intended to help keep the board from breaking while also adding a little extra stiffness. Grant rode this board at Sunset, and it is a great example of the kind of step-up equipment being built during that era.

This board comes from the period when high-performance surfboard design was pushing toward thinner, narrower outlines with less foam overall. It reflects that shift well. These boards offered a high level of performance, but they were also more difficult to ride unless the waves and the surfer were right for it. This one stands as a classic example of that progression in surfboard design.
