This is one of the first epoxy boards I made using styrofoam. At the time, epoxy resin was not easy to get and I was not very familiar with it yet. To keep polyester resin off the foam, I used rice paper from a Japanese brand I was building boards for and glued it to the blank with white glue. It worked.
I made this board to surf in the Palm Springs wave pool, back when the wave there was not what it is today. It is incredibly light, with glass-on foam fins, and Barry Tagge rode it in a contest before airbrushing it. It is a beautiful early example of that construction.
