Pintail Shortboard - 7'4" Recycler - Glass-On Tri Fin

Gary's first Recycler. Cross-Tune blanks were arriving from Japan in block form, and he had been saving the offcut strips, rocker already in them. He decided he was not going to let that material go to waste.

Five pieces of leftover foam became one board. Balsa fins, big balsa stringer.

Then he surfed it. He took it to Jeffreys Bay on a big day and broke it at Impossibles on the last section. No resin anywhere at J-Bay, so he found a hardware store that night, bought epoxy glue and fiberglass, put it back together and paddled out the next morning. Broke it again, same section. He carried the two pieces home, joined them, took it to Todos Santos, and broke it a third time on a small day.

He repaired it again. It is still here.
