From Gary's own quiver. No gun blanks to be had, only longer stock, so he glued up his own with Angelo and Chris Corso when they were still groms. Wood that was not fully dry meant some blanks opened up and had to be built twice.
He took it to Pascuales while judging a national contest for the Mexican Surf Federation. Too big at first, then the river mouth turned on that afternoon. He missed the first one, lined up the next.
The board came out beautifully.
